From the ground up

This is our current project in Kithatha

Why Kithata ?

Kithatha is a rural community in Makueni County, Kenya. The village has a dated primary school with an enrollment of about 250 students with nowhere to go once they complete primary school. It is an engaged community with leaders, teachers and parents who are ready and willing to manage the new school.

This is our 18th school, a junior secondary school which will enable students to advance their education.

Construction Updates

Week 10

Painting almost complete. It won’t be long before students sit in the classrooms as we prepare for an opening later in June.

Week 7

Roofing well underway

Week 4

Walls almost up to roof height. Roofing materials being prepared. Toilet facilities underway. A few days of lost time due to rain but the crew remain undeterred. Tracking to completion target by end of May

Week 1

The site at Kithatha is active. The children from the nearby Primary school could not contain their excitement when the materials trucks started to roll in.The BAS crew is on the ground. Foundation trenches have been excavated and the concrete pour has begun. Stone has been delivered and is staged on site. Local labour. Local materials sourced nearby.

As we warp up this project, the school doesn't stop needing things. Desks. Textbooks. Basic supplies. Small contributions add up fast. If you want to put your money somewhere it actually has an impact, consider a small donation to our organization.
